About the Project

Mission Statement

Echoing the mission of The Notable Women of Simmons project, the preservation and digitization of Alice Morris Walker's scrapbook will serve as an archival exhibit which seeks to tell a story about a young woman's experience at Simmons College in the 1930's. Beyond the goal of preserving and digitizing the fragile remains of Alice's original scrapbook, is the desire to make her memories available to a wider audience. In particular, we hope high school and college students; scholars of women's studies; and past, present and future members of the Simmons community will discover Alice's unique story and be inspired to inquire further into the lives and times of the era.
